Dream Shake

The dream shake is named after the all-time great center Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon, as it was his signature post move. This move is somewhat loosely defined, but Olajuwon himself defines it as the footwork that sets up the post moves that follow.

According to The Dream, the core of the move is the method of getting into the position of landing on both feet simultaneously after dribbling the basketball, so that neither foot is established as the player’s pivot foot. This allows the attacker to fake a spin in either direction, as the defender does not know which foot the attacker will use as his pivot foot, making it a very effective move.
